Thread lifting
Thread lifting is a technique in aesthetic medicine where self-dissolving threads are used to stimulate the skin's own collagen and elastin production, with or without hooks to give the skin a lift.
FAQ
There are two types of threads. Those that have hooks to provide lift, and those that are purely collagen-stimulating. The threads with hooks are placed a little deeper in the skin, while the collagen-stimulating threads are placed more superficially. We use both types of threads, depending on the result you want to achieve.
The collagen-stimulating effect of the threads starts after 4-6 weeks, while the lift is immediate. The threads last between 9-18 months.
Although threading provides a lift, it should not be confused with a surgical facelift. The lift provided by the threads is moderate compared to a facelift, and the treatment provides subtle and natural changes.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
The treatment is suitable for men and women who want to improve wrinkles and moderately loose skin on the neck and face.
Are there any that are not suitable for wire lifting?
Thread lift is not recommended in those with more advanced skin aging, where the skin has become significantly saggy and loose.
Is the treatment right for me?
Feel free to book a consultation if you want to know more about thread treatments and whether it could be a relevant treatment for you.
What is the downtime/recovery time?
Wire lifting can cause bruising, but most people can go straight back to work after the treatment.
Is it painful?
There is moderate discomfort in an aesthetic context, so you will be given a local anesthetic before the treatment.
What do I need to look out for after treatment?
After the treatment, it is important to let the skin on the face where the lift was performed rest. You should not massage or perform peelings/ deep cleansing of the face in the area where the threads are located. You should avoid saunas, saunas, swimming pools and other humid areas with high temperatures and lots of bacteria to avoid infection. You should also not use retinoids, vitamin A or exfoliating creams for the first 1-2 days.
Can I drink alcohol/fly after treatment?
Yes, it's not dangerous, but alcohol can increase the risk of bruising due to its blood-thinning effect. Flying is completely unproblematic.
Which areas do we treat?
- Neck
- Chin
- Jawline
- The areas around the eyes
- Munnviker
Which threads are used?
We use wires from the South Korean brand BB-Lock, which supplies both PLO and PLLA wires. These have CE approval in the EU and Europe and are a recognized brand internationally.
What side effects can occur?
- Transient discomfort and tightness of the skin, redness, bruising and swelling are the most common side effects.
- You can go back to work immediately after treatment, but some will want 1-2 days due to bruising.
- In rare cases, infection can occur, but as long as you follow our advice, this chance is very small.
Can the wires break and what happens if they do?
The threads can break. This usually happens when massaging the face or applying hard pressure to the threads, but sometimes they can still break when light pressure is applied. If this happens, the lifting effect will be weaker, while the skin-enhancing effect will persist and continue to work. Please contact us if this happens, so we can assess what to do next. If you want new threads, we can add them for a small fee.
